Really busy week!

So it’s been quiet here in my corner of blogland. I’ve been so busy creating that I’ve had no time! We’re going to our first craft fair tomorrow – well today actually! It’s been a whirlwind week. More cards have been created than I care to count. Thanks to my mum for all her support during this mad few days! I must get some sleep but I will definitely have things to share after tomorrow πŸ™‚

If you’re in or near, Kettering, Northamptonshire tomorrow, feel free to join us at the Corn Market Hall πŸ™‚

What font are you?

It’s no secret, I’m a font junkie. Love them. Love them. Love them. So when I stumbled across this quiz I had to take it.

Apparently I’m Helvetica. I’m not entirely sure I agree with this. I’d much rather be a swirly, loopy kinda font. But perhaps I’m just a “perfectionist who is always in style.” Apparently “bold yet classic, Helveticas are balanced, confident, and strong – they can always be counted on in a pinch.” Maybe that doesn’t sound so bad after all πŸ™‚

Which font are you?!

Pinterest

Pinterest. Do you love or hate it?

For those that don’t know, Pinterest is an online pinboard. You can create folders -or boards- on any subject you like, and gather information that you’ve found online. My boards are here.

I’ve found it really useful, to store ideas and things that have caught my eye. Things I’d like to come back to or that inspire me. Cute things, things that make me laugh. Things I’d like to make, things I’d like to have. Things… Here perhaps you will see the reason I dislike Pinterest. It eats time. There are too many pretty, funny, interesting things out there!

So I try very hard to not spend much time on it. I only use it when I’m researching a project. (Or if I’m totally honest, occasionally when I should be doing something more useful – but hey! I’m human!)

Here is a screen shot of my boards. Feel free to follow me and hopefully not waste too much of your time!

Do you find Pinterest useful or a time-devouring monster?

Ultimate blog challenge!

I’ve signed up for the Ultimate Blog Challenge which consists of making 31 blog posts in October. Yes, that works out to one a day. Now, I have no idea if I’ll be able to keep up that kind of pace, but I thought I wont know unless I try. Hopefully I’ll learn some things along the way! If you’d like to sign up and join in too just click here for more information.

I do have some crafty things that are VERY NEARLY ready to show you, so watch this space!!

Oh and do let me know if you’re joining the challenge too. πŸ™‚

Recycling bin numbers

If you follow me on Twitter (and if you don’t, then come on over!) then you’ll already have seen this picture. I just thought I’d add it to my blog today as it definitely comes under the heading of ‘stuff I’ve made’!

I used the Silhouette Cameo, and some yellow vinyl to cut out new house numbers for our food-waste Recycling Bin. This way we know which one is ours after it has been emptied – plus it looks pretty! I’d not tackled vinyl using my lovely Silhouette before but it was very easy. The hardest part was stopping the vinyl stick to it-self. And that’s more user error than anything else.

I’m starting to worry that my crafting habits will eventually take over my entire life. But a prettier life can’t be a bad thing, can it?!

If you like digital scrapbooking, don’t forget to check out my new shop, for lovely templates!

An anniversary card made with the Silhouette Cameo

I made this card using my brand new Silhouette Cameo – which you may have heard me singing the praises of just a little! I used the machine to design and cut the happy anniversary circle. I used the ‘Print and Cut’ feature {hello fabulous!} to make the tickets – which I designed with the recipient’s names on. I just love this machine!!!

I also used some digital scrapbook paper which came from Design House Digital.

Overall I was thrilled with the way it turned out. I hope my good friends were just as happy with it!

This made my day!

So, I know things have been quiet craft-wise. My ‘real job’ has been getting in the way lately <boo> However, I HAD to post this. It’s not technically something I’ve made, but it’s made me smile so I want to share it! This is actually something D said to me – or very close to it. So we joked that I should submit it to Handmade Ryan. Which I did, and it was used today. Submitted-by-purpleraraΒ  It’s the little things that make life sweet – oh and I think I’m super lucky that D indulges my font-addiction!!
